Veteran broadcaster Bill Czaja has been with the RiverHawks since their first season. While in the press box at Marinelli Field, Road Ranger Stadium and in radio booths around the league, he has called Jason Shelley's league-record 130th strikeout in 2002, the RiverHawks' championship run in 2004 and back-to-back 9 a.m. games at Kalamazoo in 2005.
The Michigan native grew up near Detroit, where he often listened to Hall of Fame broadcaster Ernie Harwell call the action on the Tigers network.
Czaja broke into radio at the age of 18 and has broadcasted college baseball, basketball and hockey, as well as high-school football. He has called nearly 1,000 professional-baseball broadcasts.
