RiverHawks trade Kroft to Rio Grande Valley
« Back

May 21, 2007 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – One of the Rockford RiverHawks’ most-familiar faces won’t be seen at Road Ranger Stadium this season.

The RiverHawks announced today that they have traded pitcher Adam Kroft to the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings of the United League in exchange for a player to be named later.

No current RiverHawk has been with the team longer than Kroft. The former San Diego farmhand joined the RiverHawks in the spring of 2005 and has spent each of the last two years in the team’s bullpen.

Last year, the right-hander set a team record with 43 appearances. Kroft was 6-3 with a save and a 2.00 ERA.

In his three-season professional career, Kroft is 13-5 with a save and a 3.15 earned-run average. Kroft had 2-year status in the Frontier League.

With the trade of Kroft, outfielder Matt Sauls, who joined the team at the same time, is the dean of the clubhouse.

The RiverHawks are the Western Division champions of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 15th season in 2007. The RiverHawks begin their sixth season on May 23 at Windy City. The home opener is at 7:05 p.m. May 25, when the RiverHawks host Windy City. Advertising and season-ticket information is available by calling the box office at (815) 885-2255. All games are broadcast live on WNTA (1330 AM). Fans can also visit the RiverHawks online at www.rockfordriverhawks.com.
