Anthonsen to return

March 4, 2008 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks’ second baseman is returning for a third season.

The RiverHawks announced Tuesday that they have exercised their 2008 option on infielder Joe Anthonsen. Anthonsen, who has spent his entire two-year professional career with Rockford, is the only returning player who has been in the starting lineup in each of the last two season openers.

Anthonsen hit .232 with no home runs and 28 RBI and stole 16 bases last season. He is a career .260 hitter.

Opening Night is at 7:05 p.m. May 21, when the RiverHawks host River City. The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 16th season this summer.
