September 5, 2010 - ZION, Ill. – Kyle Wright became the third pitcher to win 20 games in a Rockford RiverHawks uniform with a complete-game, 8-2 victory on Sunday at Lake County.

Wright (10-3) struck out eight and walked one in his final start of the season. Victor Diaz, Rich Austin and Jake Eigsti each hit a home run for the RiverHawks, who have won two of three since they were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. Austin was 3-for-4 with three RBI and was a triple short of the cycle.

Wright became the first RiverHawk with a pair of 10-win seasons. The former Arizona farmhand is 20-9 in two seasons with the RiverHawks. He joins Tanner Watson (27 wins) and Garrett Bauer (23) on the team’s 20-win list.

Rockford led from the first inning on. The RiverHawks loaded the bases with nobody out. Austin blooped a run-scoring single to right field. Evan McArthur followed with a line-drive single to center to drive in two.

Diaz and Austin hit back-to-back home runs in the sixth inning off Lake County starter Alec Lewis (1-4). Eigsti hit a two-run homer in the ninth.

Wright gave up nine hits, three to the first three batters he faced. He retired nine straight after Josh Short’s RBI single and the Fielders didn’t score again until the eighth inning.

Wright, with his 10th career complete game, broke the all-time RiverHawks record set by Jason Shelley, Baseball America magazine’s 2003 Independent Leagues Player of the Year.

Monday’s season finale is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will be broadcast live.

The RiverHawks are members of the Northern League, an eight-team independent professional baseball league in its 18th season.
